Project Profile

Naval Base Kitsap is a U.S. Navy base located in Washington State. As the third largest naval base in the United States, it is home to a number of military installations including a nuclear shipyard, nuclear weapons facility, a dry dock, the Navy’s largest fuel depot, and Naval Hospital Bremerton. The base is a merger between the former Naval Station Bremerton and the Naval Submarine Base Bangor.

Building 995 at Naval Base Kitsap is a maintenance shop/warehouse and office facility located in Bremerton, Washington. Our project involved the removal and replacement of 13,500 square feet of roofing and the installation of a ship ladder at the south end of the occupied building.

The project was challenging as it was a steep, barrel shaped roof and work was done during winter months. Crew size was increased to get the job done quickly, and the project was completed ahead of schedule. In addition to roofing, Snyder designed and installed a permanent, engineered hand rail around the perimeter of the parapet walls. This serves as a fall protection measure for future maintenance work taking place on the building.
