Project Profile

Located on an 18-acre greenfield site in the Issaquah Highlands, Swedish Medical Center is the first new hospital to open in King County in 25 years. The Issaquah Campus now services the Eastside through an acute-care hospital, an outpatient cancer center and a five-floor medical office building. The hospital features ambulatory care services, outpatient primary care and specialty services, physician offices, outpatient surgery, infusion therapy, lab and pharmacy spaces and advanced imaging services.

World-class cancer center. In record time.
This 540,000 sq ft LEED Sliver-certified project was fast-tracked by GC partner Sellen. We were told it was their most aggressive in recent history. The dry-in requirements of the building, coupled with an especially wet winter and multiple contractors jockeying for position, certainly wasn’t helping matters. Coordination and flexibility was critical. For example, adhesion issues caused by concrete curing were resolved with alternative attachment methods, preventing schedule impact and removal of installed components. Moreover, the project featured multiple decks and access to a tower crane was not an option. Along with various subcontractors, Snyder installed a mobile crane and ran multiple job crews in tandem.
